Overall, an enjoyable tour with excellent area coverage. Ticket booth staff were helpful and provided good customer service. Most drivers provided an excellent commentary, although I would encourage a couple of them to slow down and enunciate their words (Note: I operate in an American accent so there was no language or regional barrier).
The two top drivers/guides were (i) a young man originally from Texas who has made Hawaii his home, and (ii) a gentleman who encouraged passengers to leave a review if they found his service satisfactory. Both drivers provided good information combined with humour and the odd personal anecdote that helped put things into context and convey the spirit of Hawaii.
For those wanting to get their bearings in Honolulu within a short time, this tour is of good value. I hope to take it again on my next visit.
Had the best experience on the blue trolly operated by Kumu, who was very informative and full of wealthy knowledge of the island and its history. I would definitely be recommending the trolly tour to friends and family.
The good: Driver was great! He was funny and shared great information. Lots of beautiful sights along the way.
The bad: this is advertised as a “hop on hop off” but ultimately no one treats it that way. They treat it as a 2 hour tour! It took 3 trolleys for us to get on (barely) and many people after us were not allowed to get on the trolley.
The trolleys never seem to be on schedule and almost always full. Get on the trolley at the early stops!
